Why should you use a face primer?

Do you use a primer before applying your makeup?

Don’t you worry if your answer is “NO.” You are definitely not the only one! Before I became a makeup artist I never even heard of a primer for the face! I knew about paint primer (which come to think of it, it is basically the same concept.)

So,  take an orange for example, an orange has “dimples” or pores and when applying a primer the primer makes it smooth like an apple. Just like your skin primer gives your skin a smooth base to apply your concealer or foundation and it even helps your eyeshadows stand out more!.

What does a face primer do exactly?

A face primer goes underneath your makeup to help your makeup stay in place and give your complexion an even skin tone, glow-boost and extra skin benefits. You can also use a primer on top of your makeup to give your skin an instant pick-me-up during the day. We love using  to refresh your makeup. Or if you have a gorgeous complexion, wearing face primer on its own will help to even skin tone and blur blemishes for an everyday, naturally glowing look.

Primers are sort of like insurance for your makeup. Although they often wear many hats — smoothing, concealing, protecting and prepping — their main roles are to keep your makeup on longer and give your skin a smooth, flawless finish. Any fading, bleeding or blotchy behavior that can occur throughout the day can be prevented with the use of a little bit of primer under your foundation.

Face primer Benefits:

A face primer has skincare benefits as well as being an essential makeup product. This makes it the perfect start to your makeup routine that can treat and transform your skin! If you are wanting the following:

  1. Anti-aging
  2. Illuminating
  3. Smoothing
  4. Pore filler
  5. Even out shin tone
  6. Moisturizing
Primer application steps:

Step 1: To apply a face primer, it is best applied using your fingertips. Simply use a peanut-sized amount and blend all over your face after applying moisturizer.

Step 2: If you are using it underneath foundation, you can buff in your foundation on top. Or you can even mix it together for a sheer, dewy glow.

Step 3: For an effortlessly natural look, apply on its own to even out skin and blur imperfections while still looking fresh-faced and fabulous!

Take a Look at these key ingredients that you should have in your primer:

Hexapeptide 3
Clinical trials released by the International journal of Cosmetic Science concluded that hexapeptide-3 in skin care is beneficial because it reduces the depth of facial wrinkles which are due to muscle contractions, in as little as 30 days, especially around the mouth, eyes and forehead. It also reduces expression lines by relaxing facial muscles with a similar effect to Botox injections. It is also used to boost collagen production.

Tocopheryl Acetate
Tocopheryl acetate is a form of vitamin E, a natural skin-conditioning agent and antioxidant. It is used for reducing the formation of free radicals from exposure to UV rays, promoting the healing process, strengthening the skin’s barrier function, protecting the skin barrier’s lipid balance, and reducing transepidermal water loss. Attributed with antioxidant, anti-aging, moisturizing, anti-inflammatory, and enhanced SPF properties, tocopherol acetate is valued skincare active.

I know that there are many brands of primers out there but if you have not quite found what you are looking for, this FOUNDATION PRIMER is what I personally recommend.
